In PTV Drive&Arrive stops must be connected to road network in order to calculate an ETA:
stops must be less than 5 km far from a road segment and
there must be less than 30 degree tolerance in heading
Possible errors in calculation of an ETA could be:
distance to far from segment - linking to road network impossible
linking to incorrect road on network, when linking to incorrect segment with similar heading possible
bad GPS position in residential area near highway
linking to wrong road, because of bridges or tunnels and bad heading
How ETA calculation works:
ETA is calculated every n minutes, depending on the time to stop and ETA interval, if speed is greater than 1 m/s. See: ETA Calculation Interval
accuracy must be less than 75 meters
best way to the destination is calculated in the specified profile
for blocked roads a detour will be calculated
for "remaining travel time" and "time driven since last break" less than 4:30 hours, a trip without break will be calculated
If ETA calculation for a given position is not possible, there will be an entry in the journal with a suitable error message.
